- Look at the book with your child.
- What can you find out about in this book?
- Say to your child that this is an information book. We use them to look up facts and things we may not know.
- Look at the pictures. Talk together about drawings and photographs and the difference between the two.
- Can you see the page numbers?
- Talk together about your favourite page.

- Together, count how many snails there are on page seven.
- Have you seen some snails in your garden or on the street? Together talk about what they looked like.
- Together using the book, find out where snails live and what they like to eat. Can you find out how snails move?
- Can you see the pattern on the snail’s shell? Say the word ‘spiral’ together.
- Using the pipe cleaner in your pack, can you make a spiral shape?
