• Look at the book with your child
• What can you find out about in this book?
• Say to your child that this is an information book. We use them to look up facts and things we may not know
• Look at the pictures. Talk together about drawings and photographs and the difference between the two
• Can you see the page numbers?
• Talk together about your favourite page

Beyond Light & Shadow

• Together, hunt for shadows in the garden and around the house
• Wave to your shadow. Does your shadow wave back?
• What else can your shadow do? (jump, dance, wiggle)
• What other shadows can you see?
• Can you jump on mummy or daddy’s shadow?
• How can you change the size of your shadow?
• What happens when you turn the lights (or torch) out?
• Together, make some shadows using the torch in your pack
• What happens when you shine the torch through the star in your pack?
