Floating and Sinking
- Read the book to your child.
- Tell your child that this is an information book. We use them to look up facts and things we may not know.
- Look at the pictures. Talk together about drawings and photographs and the difference between the two.
- Can you see the page numbers?
- Talk together about your favourite page.
Beyond Floating and Sinking
- Together, fill up a bowl of water.
- Find the cork and the coin from the pack.
- Talk together about what you think might happen if you add these things to the bowl of water – will they float or sink?
- Throw them into the bowl and see!
- Talk about what has happened. How do you know the coin has sunk?
