- Read the story with your child
- Count the animals together
- Can your child say how many animals there will be before you turn each page? Which number comes next when we count?
- Together, count the animals to check how many there are.
- Stress the phrase “one more” to your child
Beyond One Gorilla:
Play a ‘one more’ game:
- Use the number cards 1 – 10 with your child
- Place them face down, each time you turn over a card, say the number you see, then say the number that is 1 more.
