CHILD PROTECTION

We have a legal duty...

Our school community has a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. We have a child protection policy and procedures in place and all staff and volunteers are responsible for making sure they are aware of these.

If we have any concerns we have a legal duty to report them to social services. This is not an accusation but a request for further clarification.

We will always ensure that our concerns are discussed with parents and carers first unless such a discussion would place a child at risk of significant harm.

We are also legally required to provide relevant information on children to social services as part of any investigation, and to share information at multi-agency child protection case conferences, to which parents are usually invited.

In relation to child abuse, the welfare of the child and their safety and protection is the overriding consideration for our school at all times.
