All Childminders listed are Ofsted registered, have public liability insurance and Paediatric First Aid certified.
Our childminding network meets every Wednesday from 9.30am-11am, it is run by Sally King who is East Ham’s childminder coordinator. This is a drop in session where childminders and their minded children come and participate in activities. Our group is a good place to meet other childminders, get peer support, advice and ideas of activities that you can do with your children (and where children can play together).
Once a month there is additional training/professional development on a range of subjects e.g outdoor play; schemas; Early Years Foundation Stage; observation, assessment and planning; policies and procedures; Special Educational Needs and Disability; behaviour management etc.
Coming to the centre means that you have access to a range of professionals who can help support and advise you on various topics, these include childcare professionals, teachers, family support worker, Newham advisory teachers, health visitors, speech therapists etc.
You can access a variety of groups at the centre in addition to the childminder support group, for example stay and play, baby groups, story time, little rhymers etc.
If you attend our group regularly you will receive help and support around Ofsted inspections. Sally King will visit your setting and advise you on how to improve your services. You will also be able to advertise your services on our website.
Sally King meets every month with the other childminder coordinators in the borough and the local authority advisory teacher to keep up to date with the latest issues and information.
Information for parents
Why choose a registered childminder?
Childminders provide home from home care. Your child will do all the things that you would do with them for example cooking, going to the park, going to the local stay and play, going to the library, shopping etc.
They will be in a small family like group. Childminders are flexible; they can take and pick up your child from nursery/school and any other activities and clubs they attend.
They can look after your child from a few months old until they are 16 if that’s what you need. They provide a tailored service to meet your families needs.
Children get individual attention as well as small group play. Your child will be safe and secure with a registered childminder as they have been trained in paediatric first aid, safeguarding, food safety and health and safety. The childminders in our network have participated in other training on a variety of topics.
Many childminders provide 2,3 and 4 year old funded places.
By choosing a childminder from our network you can be reassured that not only are they a registered childminder, they have had additional training and regular monitoring and are kept up to date with child related issues.
